Oregon-LSU betting odds for the September 3, 2011 matchup were available at BetDSI.com with a line of -3 across the board for the visiting Ducks.  This game is considered the biggest showdown of the weekend with critical ramifications for both teams.

The line on this game has shifted dramatically over the past week due mostly to player suspension concerns combined with heavy volume.  At some books, LSU opened as a -3 point favorite.  Most had this as a pick’em.

Oregon is ranked number 3 currently while LSU is ranked number 4.

Forget the idea of this being a “neutral field” game as the Tigers will have plenty of loyal fans trekking out to Arlington, Texas (a couple of hundred miles away).

LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson has been suspended and his replacement, Jarrett Lee, is not instilling much confidence within the betting community.

Michael Robinson of DonBest.com is not the least bit surprised by the line shift:

The Don Best Oddsmaker Poll has been ahead of the curve when it comes to downgrading the Tigers. They were ranked 11th in the initial ranking despite being fourth in the AP Poll. Oregon is third in the AP as well as Don Best.

LSU went 11-2 straight up last year, but had luck on its side in several wins, with the against the spread mark just 6-7. Coach Les Miles can’t count on any miracles wins, especially against a team of Oregon’s pedigree.

For the sports bettor, there is a critical trend involving the UNDER of 54.5.
