Tulsa vs. Oklahoma Spread

The Tulsa vs. Oklahoma spread was coming in at OK -24.5 at BookmakerThis was one of the more heavily bet on games of the first week of college football betting with the Sooners getting lopsided action.

In their last two meetings (2009 and 2007, respectively), Oklahoma beat Tulsa by more than the current spread.

The Golden Hurricane are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall.

They are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a road underdog of 10.5 or greater.

They are also 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games.

The Sooners, meanwhile, are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a home favorite.

The expectations are high for Oklahoma this season.  They went 12-2 last season while ending their Bowl game draught with their first win in six years.

"Who doesn't want to be No. 1? Who doesn't want to be in first?" cornerback Jamell Fleming said. "There is a little nerve-wracking thing about it but we just try not to think about that.

"We're always expected to be high regardless. Year after year, that's how it is. We're not nervous. We're just embracing it and going out there to play."

Oklahoma will be without top defender Travis Lewis, a senior linebacker who has led Oklahoma in tackles the last three seasons. Opponent Tulsa, however, will likely be without top playmaker Damaris Johnson, who led the nation in all-purpose yards in 2010, ESPN.com noted.
