Both the Carolina Panthers and Cincinnati Bengals 2011 odds for regular season wins total have these teams well under .500 at Bookmaker, the oldest established North American online sportsbook.

The Panthers were the worst offensive team in the league in 2010, and franchise quarterback Cam Newton alone won't change that.  Steve Smith, meanwhile, remains disgruntled.  The defense isn’t expected to be very strong this season either and Carolina plays in arguably the toughest NFL division.

Fortunately we see home games against Washington, Jacksonville, Tennessee and Minnesota that are winnable.  We don’t see any of the away games even remotely winnable, not even in Detroit.  Perhaps Houston, Tampa Bay or New Orleans have nothing to play for during the final three weeks.  The Texans will probably be vying for positioning in the Playoffs with Indianapolis while Tampa Bay and New Orleans likely goes down to the wire, so all of this is highly unlikely.

Under 4.5 regular season wins at -105 has some fair value.  After all, the Redskins, Jaguars, Titans and Vikings will be looking towards Carolina on the road to provide their “easy” win so none of those are “locks” by any means.

Cincinnati may be a team in even greater turmoil but, with plenty of fresh young blood, the Bengals could start to turn things around rather quickly.  They also got rid of a few distractions that were eroding this team.  Their 34-3 preseason loss to Detroit certainly doesn’t instill a whole lot of confidence.

We see the Bengals able to win three home games and maybe one on the road, two if they’re lucky.  With an OVER/UNDER of 5.5 the UNDER has fair value at -120.
