Online bookmakers had the New York Giants 2011-2012 odds of winning the NFC East division at around 4/1, playing third fiddle to the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.  Their 2012 Super Bowl odds were set at 20/1, which isn’t bad at all considering many believe the Giants could self-destruct this season.  The OVER/UNDER regular season wins were set at 9.5 games, however, the UNDER is at -180 while the OVER would pay out $140 for every $100 bet.

The OVER is something to look at assuming the Giants are even slightly better than last year’s team.  That’s because they have one of the weakest schedules in the league.

4-2 against division rivals is possible assuming they have three home wins and beat Washington on the road as well.  We’re not giving them Philadelphia and Dallas on the road this season.

Additionally, they will host St. Louis during Week 2, Seattle in Week 5 and the Buffalo Bills during Week 6 before their Week 7 bye.  A Week 4 game in Arizona could prove tough as Gambling911.com believes the Cardinals will be a force this season.

Already, prior to the bye week, this is a group that should be up 5-2.

The second half of the season does get a bit tougher, but with home games against the Dolphins and Redskins (plus those other two division games vs. Philadelphia and Dallas) and a road game in San Francisco, the potential to win at least 10 games during the regular season is certainly there

Does this Giants team have the tools to win though?

That’s the million dollar question.

This team does have turmoil (Osi Umenyiora’s contract dispute) and Eli Manning has got to do a better job of protecting the football.

Looking at the schedule doesn’t matter much where the Giants are concerned since they can easily lose to bad teams and win against the best of them.  That said, the 9.5 OVER/UNDER is a bit of a stretch.

The Giants are a tough team to bet on in 2011-2012.
