Following an 8 percent rise in traffic, global online poker traffic has declined by 6.5 percent over last week.

PokerStars, which recorded huge gains during the month of July, witnessed the biggest decline.  Much of this was attributed to the climax delivered by the company’s 65 billionth hand promotion during the prior week.  And while the 13 percent drop off could be viewed as substantial, PokerStars traffic was still 7 percent greater than two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, PartyPoker saw a 10 percent decline in traffic during the PokerStars promotion and another 3 percent drop off this week.

Following the biggest jackpot awarded by the International Poker Network, that site’s traffic declined 15 percent, and the news gets even worse for IPN as its traffic fell to numbers not seen since 2006.

Some of the best news was coming out of Italy where PokerStars.it rose to 4th place with around 2500 average real cash players and iPoker.it also made strong gains.
