Eesti Loto to Stop Publishing its Jackpot Estimates

Eesti Loto of Estonia wants to publish its jackpot estimates as this is what entices players to buy, but the Consumer Protection Board believes such publication translates into gambling.

Eesti Loto will battle it out with the Board at the Tallinn Administrative Court on August 2.

Declaring the amount of upcoming grand prizes in the nation's two largest weekly lotto games - Viking Lotto and Bingo Lotto - can be compared to gambling advertisements, Kadri Kauksi, spokeswoman for the agency, told uudised.err.ee.

According to the Advertising Act, ads may not encourage people to participate in gambling or suggest that playing games for money could increase a person's social status.
