Betting on golf tournaments, and more specifically the Major Championships, can yield some incredible profits with a little research and a whole lot of luck.

Online gambling websites like BetDSI.com offer future betting on most major golf tournaments a week or more prior to the event.  Sometimes odds are published much earlier.

By far the most wagered on of the Major Championships is the British Open, also known as simply The Open or Open Championship.  British bookmakers tend to root for those living outside the UK to win since the majority of punters are more likely to wager on their native sons.

In 2007, Padraig Harrington’s Open Championship win cost one bookmaker, Paddy Power, €5 million.

Our friends at William Hill, one of the largest bookmakers in the UK, will be offering future bets on the Open Championship along with a wide menu of other betting options.  US gamblers are prohibited from betting at William Hill unfortunately.

In past tournaments, bookmakers would typically take in about half the betting volume on Tiger Woods.  He would regularly open around 3/1 or better odds.  Things have changed in the past two years and now the prices are much higher even for the “official” favorite of each tournament.   The two favorites to win the 2011 US Open Championship – Luck Donald and Lee Westwood, respectively - entered the tournament with 12/1 odds.

Those outside of the US who wish to bet on golf tournaments can do so at our newest sponsor, William Hill.  Learn more about betting on golf tournaments and get the latest odds at William Hill here.  Bet €25, get a FREE €25.
