After the Magic Hawks game Sunday night, NBA Playoffs First Round underdogs have gone an unprecedented 20-8-1 Against The Spread.

The Lakers were still set to play against New Orleans after this piece went to press but Sunday’s play to this point had the underdogs at 2-1 ATS.

The bookies and minority dog bettors have made out huge during the first round of the 2011 NBA Playoffs as a result.

One team that didn’t quite take an active role in this trend was the New York Knicks, who got knocked out of the Playoffs in a sweep by the Boston Celtics on Sunday afternoon.

The Philadelphia 76ers avoided the sweep, beating favored Miami earlier in the day.  Philadelphia also helped solidify that impressive underdog record.
