The Marquette-North Carolina line has opened at -5 in favor of UNC.  It was not the Tar Heels who were getting most of the betting action on the spread, but rather Marquette, at a 65/35 clip.   The OVER 148 was getting significant lopsided total betting action.  Gambling911.com has calculated that the line on this game should be closer to -4.

North Carolina just barely managed to advance with an 86-83 win over Washington.  The Tar Heels have made more Sweet 16 appearances than any other school.

John Henson had his 14th straight game with at least 10 rebounds and recorded his eighth straight double-double. Henson also had four blocks, passing Eric Montross for fifth place on UNC's career list.  Kendall Marshall's 14 assists set a North Carolina record for an NCAA tournament game. The old record was 12 by Kenny Smith in 1987.

Marquette enters this year’s Sweet 16 pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the Tournament thus far after beating number two-seeded Syracuse Sunday night with a final score of 66-62.  It is their first Sweet 16 since a Final Four run in 2003.

Versus good offensive teams - scoring 77+ points/game, Marquette is 6-1 Against The Spread while UNC is 1-6 ATS in all tournament games.

Despite all the heavy action on the OVER 148 in this game, past trends suggest a strong chance for the UNDER where Marquette is concerned.  The UNDER is 1-6 on neutral courts, 5-16 following a conference game and 2-9 off a conference win, 1-6 in all tournaments, and, when playing against a team with a winning record after 15 or more games, the UNDER is a dismal 3-12.
