Gold-To-Go

Gold-to-Go.  That’s right!  It’s a vending machine in a Las Vegas casino that spits out gold, bars and coins to be more precise.

"We kind of like the idea that Vegas is sorta over the top," said Gary Del Prete with the Golden Nugget in an interview with local news station KSNV. "And what better than to have a gold plated vending machine that's open for basically 24 hours?"

Customers can choose between a single gram bar and a one ounce coin.

"You know a one gram piece is pretty affordable; around $60," said Del Prete.

Prices adjust automatically to reflect the current gold market.

The one ounce coin, at the moment, goes for about $1,400, KSNV noted.

After the machine’s initial unveiling in Florida last month, operators of Gold-to-Go claims it has to be stocked every three days on average.

"It lets our guests who win a little money in the casino go right over to this machine and make a little money and invest it in a wise way," Golden Nugget CEO Tilman Fertitta said.

The machine only accepts cash.
