Line on The Bengals vs. Jets Game

The line for the Bengals vs. Jets game was sitting around -9 in favor of the home team Jets for this Thanksgiving Day evening game.  The betting public believed the spread to be correct, with even action observed on both sides.  The money line was also getting even action despite the Bengals dismal 2 wins this season and loss to Buffalo last week.  The total was getting just over 80 percent on the OVER 44.

The Jets, who have won and covered Against The Spread vs. Cincinnati in their last three games the past three seasons, come into this game with as many losses as the Bengals have wins.  They are also tied atop the AFC East.

But it hasn’t exactly been pretty for New York these past few weeks.

Nail biting, racing hearts and stunning comebacks, they’re all in the playbook for the New York Jets, the Associated Press points out this week.

During the last three weeks, the Jets have managed to win all of those games in overtime.

Last week, New York pulled off an even more miraculous victory after Santonio Holmes managed to catch a 6-yard touchdown pass from Mark Sanchez with just 10 seconds remaining.  That resulted in a 30-27 comeback over the Houston Texans.

“I want to apologize to all the Jets fans for affecting the heart a little bit,” Head Coach Rex Ryan said after the game.  “But we’ll take the win.”

“We don’t think we’re ever out of it at all,” said Jets tight end Dustin Keller.  “We tick ourselves off when we put ourselves in those situations, but we know that we’re always capable of coming back in any game in any situation.”

Despite these close wins, the Jets come into this game with a 13-6 record Against The Spread.

At home as a favorite is a different story, however.  In this situation, the Jets are just 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games.

New York is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. the AFC.  The Bengals are 2-8 ATS against the AFC.

Other trends for the Bengals vs. Jets Thanksgiving Day game do not exactly favor Cincinnati.

Following a Straight Up loss, the Bengals are just 1-5 ATS.

Cincinnati is also 1-5 ATS on field turf, which could present some problems.

They are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
