They can’t even give Las Vegas away these days it seems.

Gambling911.com came across this recent bargain via Travel Zoo:

Spend four nights on the Las Vegas Strip for as little as $135 per person, including roundtrip airfare from Southern California.

This deal comes courtesy of Southwest Airlines Vacations.  Travelers will stay at the Las Vegas strip hotel Circus Circus.

The new 5-star Aria Resort & Casino starts at $313 per person with complimentary breakfast buffet, saving guests 50 percent on self-packaging prices.

And remember, on Southwest Airlines, bags fly free.

Las Vegas is suffering from its worst economic woes in nearly 70 years with unemployment at 15 percent, well above the national average.  Gambling revenue state-wide has dropped for the third straight year.

"It's been in bad shape before, but not this bad," David G. Schwartz, director of the Center for Gaming Research at the University of Nevada, told the New York Times this week. "If you look at the gaming revenues they have declined. … Sept. 11 set off a two-year slowdown, but nothing of this magnitude."

Not all gambling Meccas are suffering.  The Asian casino playground of Macau reported a 40 percent jump in revenues this week with September’s revenues the 4th highest this year.

Macau growth is “still at attractive levels, even as the rate decelerates,” Janet Brashear, an analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. in New York told Bloomberg.

It should be noted that Vegas Strip room rate bargains do not necessarily apply to the high end properties such as the Venetian and Bellagio, each of which were priced at around $250 and up per night during Mid-October.  Aaron Goldstein reporting for Gambling911.com.
