Tua Tagovailoa

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Miami Dolphins will release Tua Tagovailoa this offseason.

Of course, Tagovailoa was demoted to third-string quarterback this weekend. He has 15 interceptions against 20 TDs this season.

So, what's the next stop in Tua's oft tumultuous career? Many are pointing toward a backup role, but there are still some QB-hungry clubs that could benefit from a veteran signal caller.

Would Andy Reid be able to fix a broken Tua? The Chiefs are third on the below board from BetOnline.ag.

The Cleveland Browns are desperate for a quarterback, as are the New York Jets.  But it is a point that separates the Browns (2/1), Jets (3/1) and Chiefs (4/1) on the odds board.

Some coaches won’t want Tua, based solely on the measurables, according to Mike Florio of NBC Sports.

If the salary cap increases from $279.2 million in 2025 to $300 million in 2026 (in 2025, it bumped by $23.8 million over 2024), the $54 million in guarantees would count for 18 percent of the 2026 cap. That’s a lot for a new team to absorb, and it would require a lot more than a second-round pick to get a new team to take on the obligation. Especially if (like the Browns with Osweiler) the new team has no intent of keeping Tua on the 53-man roster.

All things considered, it will be difficult for the Dolphins to pull off a Tua trade. The biggest question will be whether another team wants him. And that won’t be known until after the coaching carousel comes to rest, with new head coaches and new offensive coordinators in place.

NFL next team odds are subject to change.
