Slim Playoff Chances

Miami's playoff chances stood at just 8 percent heading into Week 17.

The Dolphins would have been eliminated with a loss to the 49ers, but did manage to win a live another day.

A win by the Broncos against the Bengals on Saturday would have eliminated the Dolphins from playoff contention.  The Bengals managed to hold on for an overtime victory, thus allowing the Dolphins to remain in survivor mode.

A loss on Sunday in Cleveland will most certainly eliminate Miami.

The Dolphins would have the conference record tiebreaker over the Bengals if they do win.

The Colts have the head-to-head edge over the Dolphins thanks to a Week 7 win.

A Colts win over the Giants, which on paper at least looks inevitable, eliminates Miami even before they get set to play against the Browns.

Line Analysis and Action

The action was balanced with the line on the 3/3.5.  Action had been around 78% with Miami at -6.

The line moved from Miami -6 to -3.

Note that the temperatures in Cleveland will be in the balmy 50s at game time.  Thus, weather is not a factor here as it might be during any other winter week.

Comparables

  • Texans -5.5 to -3.5 Jaguars (Texans 5.34 On The Money to Underlay) 75% action on Texans - Home dog covers.
