HARLINGEN, Texas - (Gambling911.com) - Great news for those residing in the Rio Grande Valley of Southeast Texas as Valley International Airport — also called VIA — has announced new nonstop flights to and from Las Vegas.
The airport serves the Brownsville, Harlingen and South Padre Island region, all within a 30 mile drive.
McAllen is also within a close enough proximity from the airport, roughly 36 miles.
The new summertime route represents a few “firsts” for the Harlingen airport, which is the only airport in the Rio Grande Valley that serves as a regional Southwest hub. It’s the first time the Texas-based air carrier has offered a flight to Las Vegas, and it’s the first Southwest nonstop from VIA to a city outside the Lone Star State. The Las Vegas flight is also the first time Southwest has announced a new route from VIA since 1985, according to airport officials.

The new flight is not set to begin until the summer of 2027.
The newly announced Southwest nonstop from Harlingen (HRL) to Las Vegas (LAS) is currently scheduled for Saturdays only, running June through August 2027. Valley International Airport says additional dates could potentially be added.
The exact flight times have yet to be published.
