A few weeks ago, the oddsmakers at BetOnline.ag set odds on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s next team.
A lot has happened since then. First of all, speculation of Giannis asking for a trade has now become that Giannis is open to a trade.
Add in the lottery, with a handful of teams having the necessary young talent and draft assets to obtain the Greek Freak, you don’t have to squint anymore to see him on another team.
The Mavs could trade Cooper Flagg, the Spurs have the No. 2 overall pick along with quality, young players and draft assets, the Pelicans own three future picks of the Bucks and could give them back in a trade for Giannis and Memphis could look to shake things up. There are many teams that have the necessary parts to make a Giannis trade.
Among the many headlines Thursday was one from the Sporting News. "Proposed Bucks-Rockets trade sends Giannis Antetokounmpo to Houston in return for $225 million young star duo"
Fansided’s Christopher Kline proposed the idea.
“Giannis fits the ethos of Ime Udoka, who prioritizes defensive intensity and execution above all else,” Kline wrote. “Also, after all those years of feuding with James Harden, it would be mildly ironic and very funny if Giannis is the next superstar tasked with guiding the Rockets into the future. What if he wins a championship in Houston, unlike Harden? So many fun narrative twists.”
