Either Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri are going to win the F1 title this season, which will make either/or one of the youngest drivers ever to annex the award.

Youngest Champions in History

With less than a week before the November 22nd Las Vegas Grand Prix, there’s no shortage of   F1 news. The last U.S race of the 2025 calendar means the season is winding down rapidly. Vegas is the 22nd stop in 2025, with Qatar (November 30th) and Abu Dhabi (December 7th) putting a bow on the competition.

Looking at the current F1 standings, Lando Norris has a slim 24-point lead over (390 to 224) over his McLaren running mate Oscar Piastri. Four-time defending F1 champ 2021-22-23 U.S. Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing) is third in points with 341, Mercedes’ George Russell fourth at 276, and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) fifth at 214points,

Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari 148), Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes, 121). Alex Albon (Williams, 73),  Nico Hulkenberg (Kick Sauber, 43) and Isack Hadjar (RB, also 43) round out the top 10 in the standings. Norris and Piastri lead with seven wins each this season.

In the category of youngest to win the F1 drivers’ championship, that’s Sebastian Vettel. He was 23 years and some change when he won the title in 2010. Proving to fluke, the German then defended his title in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Vettel was a few months younger than Lewis Hamilton when the latter won his first title in 2008.

Fernando Alonso, Max Verstappen (both 24 years of age) and Emerson Fittipaldi (25) complete the list of youngest-ever F1 champs, though Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri would join that club with a 2025 title.

The final events on the 2025 Formula 1 calendar have the attention of both serious and casual motorsports fans, especially with the title unsettled as of this writing. Here’s a bit of a primer…

What is a Drivers’ Championship in F1?

As was mentioned, the gruelling F1 2025 schedule is down to its three events of the season, with the drivers’ championship still unsettled. It is awarded to the driver who leads in points over a single season (individual results in Grand Prix races).

Who is the Current Driver Champion in F1?

It’s none other than Dutch-Belgian icon Max Verstappen, who’s after a fifth consecutive F1 title. Verstappen is obviously among the favourites in any F1 race, though he’s going to have to step on it and get some help if he’s to complete a ‘five-peat’. Verstappen is currently third in the standings with three races remaining.

Can Max Verstappen Still Win the Championship in 2025?

Probably not, as he not only needs to sweep the final three events (Las Vegas, Qatar, Abu Dhabi) plus the final sprint, but both drivers ahead of him (Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri) have to have poor performances.

Bettors are advised to see how Verstappen does in F1 qualifying to get some sort of gauge.

He is currently at 9-1 (+900) on the BetUS F1 championship odds board, directly behind prohibitive favourite Lando Norris (-830) and Oscar Piastri.

What is the Difference Between the Drivers’ and Constructors’ championships?

It’s a team award, the constructors’ championship. While the individual drivers are earning their own points over the course of a season, they also accumulate points toward the team total

How Do F1 Drivers Win a Championship?

In short, F1 drivers’ championship is awarded to the driver who leads in points over a single season (individual results in Grand Prix races).

Any Final Thoughts?

F1 races and F1 results have their share of rabid fans who devour all the twists and turns on those courses with all sorts of twists and turns. It’s only intensifying with just three races remaining in 2025.
