During the ceremonial weigh-in face-off, tensions boiled over—security intervened after Chimaev shoved du Plessis, calmly warning him:  “He’s dead tomorrow.”

For his part, du Plessis had this to say: "It’s going to be absolute chaos. … I’m going out there to attack. I’m going there to kill him."

This matchup belongs on par with recent fights like Ilia Topuria-Max Holloway in 2024 and Islam Makhachev-Alexander Volknovski I in 2023, pairing P4P mainstays that appeal just as much to the casual audience.
