Swift Exiting Detroit?
(April 28, 2023) - Sources: The #Lions are receiving trade calls on running back D’Andre Swift, whose representatives have been in contact with the team about potentially moving to a new team. With Detroit drafting Jahmyr Gibbs, the talented Swift appears poised to leave Detroit.
Swift came out of Georgia in the 2020 NFL draft but injuries have prevented him from playing up to his potential.
Lions general manager Brad Holmes offered: "I mean, D’Andre, he’s still on our roster, he’s still part of our team, he’s still under contract with us. He’s a dynamic football player, so it hadn’t really changed the math there, yet. But it is early, but it didn’t really change."
The Lions were originally slated to pick sixth in the first round but opted to trade back with the Arizona Cardinals, picked No. 12 instead, and went all in on the Crimson Tide's Gibbs.
This was a shock since the ESPN prediction model had Gibbs with a 99% availability after the Lions were slated to make their pick, presumably on someone else.
Update April 29, 2023: Swift has now been traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.
