Gray New Gloucester Maine will be representing the New England region as the +125 dog against the Northwest region, Northeast Seattle, Washington.

The last New England regional team to make it into an LLWS final was Cranston, Rhode Island.  The state of Rhode Island is represented in this year's Little League World Series in the Metro Region courtesy of Smithfield.

The Gray-New Gloucester/Raymond Little League team defeated Canton, Massachusetts Thursday night 2-1 and may be the team to beat this year despite being the underdog here.  New Gloucester went undefeated during the district and state tournaments, outscoring their opponents 70-7 over eight games.

“I dreamed about it and thought it would be cool, and we’re one game away from it,” said Anthony Piccone, 12, prior to advancing with the win over Massachusetts. “It’s the most important game of our life. Just go out and do our thing, and we’ll be right there.”

Thursday night’s 12-1 win in San Bernadino, Calif., against the Dimond-West Little League team from Alaska, sent Northeast Seattle to the Northwest Region baseball title.

Trey Kirchoff finished Thursday night’s outing with five innings pitched, eight strikeouts, and four hits, with one earned run on 65 pitches.
