Georgia residents will not be able to place bets on this year’s Preakness with the US-based websites but they WILL be able to play on international sites like Bookmaker, which has been in business since 1986.

While the following gambling establishments are not illegal in all states, because they are prohibited in the state of Georgia, US-based sites like TwinSpires and XpressBet will not accept customers from the state as they risk losing their respective licenses.  International websites do not have to worry about the loss of their license.

Prohibited Forms of Gambling in the state of Georgia:

Georgia's gambling laws expressly prohibit a few forms of gambling. Just because something is not expressly prohibited by this law does not mean that it is allowed. A local attorney will be able to help you determine whether an activity is permitted or not. The Georgia gambling law prohibits:

    Horse racing

    Dog racing

    Casinos

Maintaining gambling places or gambling equipment

    Election wagering

    Commercial gambling

    Dog fighting

    Chain Letters

    Pyramid Clubs
