Imagination payout odds to win this week's Preakness Stakes were coming in at +425 for a payout potential of $425 for every $100 bet.
What We Like About Imagination for This Year's Preakness Stakes
Imagination was the winner of the San Felipe Stakes and second place finisher at the Santa Anita Derby. His performance at the latter means a great deal as a total of ten Santa Anita Derby winners have gone on to win the Kentucky Derby
Better still, Affirmed (1978) and Justify (2018) would go on to win the Triple Crown, including the Preakness, after being victorious at the Santa Anita Derby.
Imagination is trained by Bob Baffert, whose other horse, Muth, was scratched from the Preakness on Wednesday. Muth was also the odds-on favorite to win, making Imagination a bit of an afterthought in terms of the Baffert-trained entries.
His jockey for this race will be Frankie Dettori of Italy. Dettori has more than 3,300 wins and 15 victories in the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, but he’s never ridden in the Preakness.
