Coming into the start of the week, West Coast was listed with 9/2 odds of winning the 2017 Breeders Cup Classic.

West Coast has won his last five races including, in order of most recent, the Pennsylvania Derby (Grade 1), Traverse Stakes (Grade 1) and Los Alamitos (Grade 3).

“He continues to improve, and that’s what makes him scary,” Xpress analyst Richard Migliore told Horse Racing Nation.

In his final workout this past weekend, West Coast was clocked in 1:00 2/5 for five furlongs.

"He went nice—just cruising around there like he usually does," trainer Bob Baffert said. "We let him gallop out a little bit, but he's just doing really well right now. This track is so deep in the morning. He always goes good. Those good horses—they separate themselves on this track in the mornings."
