Thunder Snow Odds to Win 2017 Kentucky Derby

Thunder Snow had 26-1 odds of winning the 2017 Kentucky Derby after being selected for the number two post position, which has yielded 7 winners but none since 1978.

The most recent horse to hit the board from this position was the deep-closing Revolutionary in 2013, making it nearly as dreaded as the number one spot.

Thunder Snow is the winner of the UAE Derby and UAE 2000 Guineas but, to date, successful horses from the UAE have yet to translate that success to Churchill Downs.

And considering the poor post position, Thunder Snow has a battle ahead of him.

Trainer Saeed Bin Suroor  didn’t seem dissuaded by the poor post position draw.

“We’re happy with that. We need to be handy in the race. The horse has a good turn of foot and he can be there and kick readily and that is the plan.”
