Tale of Verve Preakness Stakes odds were coming in at 51-1 for a payout potential of $510 on every $10 bet

A win by Tale of Verve at this year’s Preakness Stakes would be one of the biggest upsets in a sporting event in recent memory.

Trained by Dale Stewart, Tale of Verve is the only horse in the field who has never started in a stakes race.  He is one of three horses in this weekend's Preakness Stakes race that has just one maiden race under his belt.

“We are going to take a chance,” Stewart said outside the Preakness Stakes Barn Thursday morning. “I think he is going to run hard. Whether that will be good enough to win, I don’t know.”

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
