Ribchester is easily favored to win this weej’s Queen Anne Stakes at 4/5 odds.

"He gives me the impression he is still improving and with that in mind, he should again hold Lightning Spear, who he beat at Newbury," his jockey William Buick said.

"He handled the soft ground very well that day, but he will be just as much at home on fast ground. It was good to firm when he finished a close third to The Gurkha in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood last year."

Lightning Spear had the second shortest odds.

"He wants pace in the race," said trainer David Simcock. "Like plenty of horses we've been looking for a nice, even gallop. I can't say we've had that every time.

"We would be disappointed if he didn't close the gap on Ribchester. We've always felt he would be better on better ground. That's not to say Ribchester won't be either."
