WHY MY BOY JACK CAN WIN THIS YEAR'S KENTUCKY DERBY

With 10 career races, he has more experience than any horse in the field. He’s won at three different tracks (Santa Anita, Oaklawn and Keeneland) and figures to get the fast early pace he needs to take advantage of his closing style.

WHY MY BOY JACK CAN'T WIN THIS YEAR'S KENTUCKY DERBY

The Derby will be his third race in three states in seven weeks. While that was the norm not too long ago, critics will wonder what My Boy Jack has left in the tank.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

Trainer Keith Desormeaux on My Boy Jack’s workout this weekend at Churchill Downs:

"I just wanted to make sure he was nice and limber. That's his first breeze over the Churchilll surface," Desormeaux said, "If he struggles over the surface in the work, that might indicate he'll struggle in the race. But as I watched Jack walk by and cool off, he seemed relaxed."
