Mohaymen post position draw landed him in the number fourteen post position and had relatively short odds of 10-1.
An early favorite to win the 2016 Kentucky Derby, Mohaymen’s number 14 position has won only twice in 61 Derby starts, making for one of the lowest win percentages. The position has yielded zero winners since 1999.
Kiaran McLaughlin (trainer) hardly seemed bothered by the post position draw.
“We’re happy. He’ll be the last one in the main gate, so it’s great,” she said. “There’s a little space between the two gates. There are a lot worse posts, so we’re happy.”
Mohaymen won the Fountain of Youth and Holy Bull Stakes but finished 4th in the Florida Derby, his most recent start.
