Coming into the start of the week, Gunnevera was listed with 15/1 odds of winning the 2017 Breeders Cup Classic. These odds could be cut with Keen Ice (previously 12/1 odds) scratched.
Gunnevera finished 2nd in his most recent race, the Travers Stakes, but has been inconsistent over the past several months of racing.
Gunnvera worked out late last week.
“The horse went very good this morning. He started out slow but finished strong,” trainer Antonio Sano.. “We are very happy and excited about him. Everything is very good.”
His last graded 1st place finish was back in March at the Fountain of Youth Stakes.
