Coming into the start of the week, Gun Runner was coming in as the favorite to win the 2017 Breeders Cup with odds of 6/5.
Gun Runner is on a roll of late having won three of his last races: The Woodward, Whitney and Stephen Foster. His previous three races featured a 2nd place finish and two victories before that.
Reports are coming in that Gun Runner is firing on all cylinders now.
“I feel very good about where we’re at right now,” trainer Stev Asmussen said on a conference call last week. “What’s happened since the World Cup is surprising a lot of people. We’re trying to get to the Classic in the best shape possible. It’s the stage where Gun Runner can prove where he’s at.”
