Cherry Wine has a few good things going for him, trainer Dale Romans being one.

Cherry Wine finished fourth in the Grade II Rebel Stakes in February and third in the Grade I Blue Grass Stakes in March.

Cherry Wine and Fellowship (30-1 odds) are the two Preakness Stakes entrants that are capable closers.

The Courier Journal’s Jonathan Lintner suggests:  Those two could come running at the end of the 1 3/16-mile race that has plenty of early pace – plus Derby winner Nyquist pressing it.

“We hope that’s what happens,” Jones said. “Until the race runs, we just don’t know. He’s shown the ability to be a competitive horse with these kind of horses.”
