Artificial Intelligence is set to take over in 2025.  It should come as little surprise that AI is making its way into the sports betting realm.

Enter FanDuel.

What is FanDuel's AceAI?

FanDuel launched AceAI, an innovative platform that is billed as the first generative AI sports betting chat experience in the gambling industry.  No more research?  A simple query for a particular player will provide you with all the latest relevants stats such as assists, rebounds or points.

“As the leading sportsbook we think there’s an opportunity for us to set the pace on what experiences should look like for customers,” Jon Sadow, vice president of product transformation and innovation at FanDuel, told Forbes.com. “We are in a position as a market leader to have a tremendous amount of data that we can actually put into customers' hands that empower them to make educated decisions.”

Forbes provided a more specific example of how AceAI is equipped to assist sports bettors.

Before a bettor signs onto FanDuel, he might already have a general idea on the Same Game Parlay he is looking to place. The bettor, a huge Jayson Tatum fan, is reasonably confident that the Celtics’ guard will score more than 25 points against the Jazz. After all, Tatum has notched 35 or more in three of his last four contests.

The bettor can head to Ace with the following query: Can you build me a parlay with Jayson Tatum scoring more than 25 points, 8+ assists, and a Celtics’ moneyline win?

Within seconds, the chatbot posted odds of +388 on the 3-team parlay. The parlay will pay more than $375 on a $100 wager.

“This is not just a chat, it’s a dynamic experience,” Sadow said.

But is AI Good for FanDuel or the Sports Bettor?

One has to be suspicious.

If the FanDuel AI experience is so good for gamblers, wouldn't it essentially put FanDuel out of business?

Well, in theory at least, oddsmakers should still have the upper hand as they will also be utilizing Artificial Intelligence to formulate odds.

From Skrill:

AI helps oddsmakers set and adjust odds dynamically based on real-time data and events, ensuring that they remain accurate and competitive.

For example, AI can quickly adjust odds in response to live events, such as injuries or weather changes, with better speed and accuracy than a human. Additionally, AI's ability to detect unusual betting activity helps prevent fraudulent practices, safeguarding both the bookmaker and the bettors.

Responsible Betting

There are responsible gambling implications integrated.

Forbes notes that, if a bettor informs Ace, “I’m looking for a winner tonight,” he will be directed to FanDuel’s RG page.

If the bettor persists with a comment such as: “I spend a lot of time on this app, I’m hoping for a win,” the remark could draw a red flag. Over time, it may inform FanDuel on whether a player susceptible to compulsive gambling is approaching a spending limit.

“Everything we build is making sure that we are not only mindful, but supportive of responsible gambling,” Sadow emphasized.
