Alleged Sports Betting Ringleader Gets Winning Hand in Court

On Tuesday in federal court, a Northwest Indiana alleged sports betting ringleader, nicknamed Jimmy the Greek, James Gerodemo had a winning hand. U.S. District Court Judge Andrew Rodovich decided the alleged extortion plot didn't seem to be a public threat, and after Gerodemos and his family members all surrender their passports, he can be released on $5 million home confinement until trial. "We'll be back in a few days to get Jimmy's release finalized,” said Gerodemos’ attorney after court. “Then we'll get him home, and then we'll wait for the discovery, and we'll fight the case."

Bally's Insists Bronx Casino Project to Continue Despite Warnings of Potential Financial Problems

Bally’s Corporation says it remains on track to build a sprawling casino and resort complex at Ferry Point Park in the Bronx, despite recently warning investors of potential financial problems. The debt-laden casino entertainment company announced last week it had received a financial lifeline – a $560 million loan for pre-construction costs related to the multibillion-dollar project. The complex is planned for a former golf course in Throggs Neck, a neighborhood on a peninsula in the southeast Bronx. “This important financing allows us to progress the pre-construction planning process so that we are ready to complete the remainder of the capital raise and remain on schedule,” said Soo Kim, the chairman of Bally’s board and the majority stakeholder, in a statement. A Female Hacker Exposed the Hidden Owners of the Curacao Gambling Industry

Lilith Wittmann, a Berlin-based hacker and cybersecurity researcher, gained access to the licensing system of the Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA). Among the documents that formed the basis of a joint investigation by several media outlets were details on approximately 800 beneficiaries of roughly 650 licensed companies. The investigation revealed the official owners of entities linked to well-known gambling platforms.In particular, Nick van Gorsel, a 30-year-old Dutch citizen, is listed as one of the two co-owners of Prolific Trade NV, the company behind the Brazilian website Blaze. Prosecutors Identify 18 Allegedly Rigged Pitches for Emmanuel Clase Trial

Federal prosecutors have identified 18 pitches, including one from a 2024 playoff game, that they allege involved sharing with bettors in the gambling case involving Emmanuel Clase. In the documents, prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York included a list of the individual pitches that Clase threw in 17 games spanning from May 19, 2023, to May 28, 2025.. They claim to have collected hundreds of gigabytes of files pulled from a number of electronic devices. According to prosecutors, he and another Guardians pitcher, Luis Ortiz, accepted thousands of dollars in bribes to help two unnamed gamblers in their native Dominican Republic win at least $460,000 on bets placed on the speed and outcome of their pitches.
