Utah Man Uses Fake Bomb to Rob Bank Following $19K Casino Loss

Monday October 5, 2026 (8:36 am EDT)

A convoluted scheme is coming to light following the arrest of a Utah man, Fidel Ybarra, who confessed a bank robbery using a fake explosive device.  He has implicated two other individuals  – Thomas Domingo Bustos and Brelyn Sanchez.  Ybarra told investigators that he had been forced by Bustos to rob a credit union. Bustos allegedly issued threats to his family, and Sanchez was supposedly the getaway driver. Both Bustos and Sanchez pled not guilty on Friday, October 2.  The robbery occurred September 4 at the American First Credit Union in South Salt Lake.  Ybarra said that Bustos had accused him of a $19,000 debt accumulated at a casino in West Wendover, Nevada, threatening his family and him.

Falcons vs. Saints MNF Game Betting Preview

Monday October 5, 2026 (8:36 am EDT)

Gambling911.com didn't really find any of the NFL games this Sunday to be standouts in terms of likely outcomes for bettors and this trend continues into Monday night with balanced action and barely a spread on the Falcons-Saints game, which has New Orleans as a -1 point favorite (down from -2.5 opening line).  At DraftKings, New Orleans was attracting 62% of spread bets and 64% of spread handle. On the moneyline, the Saints at -125 have 59% of tickets and 52% of the money, while Atlanta +105 has 41% of bets but 48% of handle.  DraftKings has dropped the number from Saints -2.5 to -1.5, which seems to indicate that they at least believe Atlanta will win here.

Missouri in 'Ongoing Discussions' With Kalshi

Monday October 5, 2026 (8:36 am EDT)

The Missouri attorney general’s office says it’s in “ongoing discussions” with Kalshi, the prediction market firm that was the first of six companies in the space to respond to a formal cease and desist letter sent out last month. The state is arguing that Kalshi, Robinhood, Polymarket, Novig, Underdog and Crypto.com are engaged in unlicensed sports wagering. “Any company that wants to offer sports wagering in Missouri must be licensed by the Missouri Gaming Commission, pay the required taxes and fees, and ensure no one under 21 can place a bet,” Attorney General Catherine Hanaway said last month in announcing the move.

Flávio Bolsonaro Now a 'Lock' to Win Brazil Elections

Monday October 5, 2026 (8:36 am EDT)

Brazil’s presidential race goes to second round as Flávio Bolsonaro leads incumbent Lula. Far-right challenger and son of disgraced ex-president Jair Bolsonaro put in a stronger than expected showing, with Lula calling the result ‘unexpected’.  With 99.9% of votes counted, the 45-year-old son of the disgraced former president, Jair Bolsonaro, had won 47%, meaning he will now face a 25 October showdown with his 80-year-old rival. Lula received 45.1%. Bolsonaro received 56.1m votes to Lula’s 53.8m.  Lula da Silva is now the long shot at BetOnline, paying $600 for every $100 bet with a win while Flavio Bolsonaro is listed as a virtual "lock" priced at -1500.  Lulu's administration just banned online gambling while Bolsonaro says he supports ending online casinos while allowing regulated sports betting to continue.
