These are your top 10 trending stories and betting markets for the past week as of Friday August 8, 2025 here at Gambling911.com.
1. WNBA Dildo Betting (47475 Impressions This Week)
In our 26 year existence, we could never have conceived of a betting market that employed the WNBA and dildos. There was actually a time (very recently in fact) when few books even offered much in the way of WNBA wagering.
Gamblers went all-in on betting the color of the next dildo thrown onto the court of a WNBA game after the Dream-Valkyries July 29 game was interrupted by an NSFW moment in the fourth quarter, when what appeared to be a lime green colored dildo was thrown on the court.
"Nobody's picked the object up yet", said one game announcer during the disruption.
Days later, another green dildo was thrown onto the court of a game between the Valkyries and Chicago Sky.
Then came word of an arrest. That didn't stop a third sex toy from being thrown during the L.A. Sparks game Tuesday night.
BetOnline continues to offer betting on all things WNBA dildos.
2. Hungarian Grand Prix (22874 Impressions This Week)
No, that's not a typo.
22,874 impressions!
Gambling911.com is finding a nice niche in the world of motorsports of late and the Hungarian Grand Prix drove this point home nicely last weekend (pun intended).
Lando Norris held off McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri in a tense finish to win the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday and boost his title chances.
Overtaking in Hungary is tough, but Norris had to work hard to keep the win as Piastri loomed behind him in the final laps.
Norris celebrated with a double fist pump on top of his car after claiming McLaren’s 200th F1 win by less than a second to cut Piastri’s standings lead to nine points from 16.
“I’m dead. It was tough, it was tough,” Norris said. “The final stint, with Oscar catching, I was pushing flat out.”
3. ACR Poker Slot Tournament (7434 Impressions This Week)
ACR Poker, over the weekend, hosted a $15,000 Slots Tournament from August 1st to 3rd—and this one comes with a serious twist.
Instead of the usual cash-only prizes, we’re awarding three Venom entries (each worth $2,650) along with $8,000 in cash for the top 18 players!
4. Ohio Player Prop Bet Ban Fears (6530 Impressions This Week)
Effective March 1, 2024, you can no longer place prop bets on individual college athletes from the state of Ohio. This includes prop bets on Ohio State Buckeyes players. Local bookmakers and internationally licensed sports books will still be offering college player props for the 2025 season.
Governor DeWine wants this applied to pro sports like the NFL, NBA and MLB as well.
His stance comes in the wake of a gambling probe involving two Guardians players, both of whom had their lockers cleared out last week.
Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase has been placed on non-disciplinary paid leave as part of a Major League Baseball investigation into sports betting.
A probe into Luis Ortiz was also underway. The Ortiz investigation is related to in-game prop bets on two pitches thrown by the right-hander that received higher activity than usual during his starts at Seattle on June 15 and against St. Louis on June 27. The gambling activity on the pitches was flagged by a betting-integrity firm and forwarded to MLB.
Some Ohio lawmakers appear resistant to DeWine's calls to prohibit prop bets, though none have formally stepped up to fully oppose these efforts. DeWine is specifically targeting micro prop bets, or live bets on a specific play in a game, which Legal Sports Report noted accounts for around 70% of handle in more mature markets like the United Kingdom.
5. Big Ten Passing, Receiving, Rushing Yard Leaders Betting Odds for 2025 (4784 Impressions This Week)
College football is just around the corner and oddsmakers this year are not holding back when it comes to offering a wide array of prop bets and futures, some of which have never been offered previously.

6. Post Trade Favorites Odds for MLB Rookie of the Year Awards 2025 (4313 Impressions)
The NL MVP hasn’t changed since Day 1 of the season, and Nick Kurtz could go on the IL for the rest of the year and still take home Rookie of the Year honors.
SportsBetting.ag has made some recent changes to its NL ROY odds, as well as the two Manager of the Year categories.
After Jacob Misiorowski looked to be running away with NL ROY, he’s now fallen to fourth on the board. Drake Baldwin is up to -200, but Agustin Ramirez and Isaac Collins are now both listed at better than 6/1.
For the MOY award, John Schneider and Pat Murphy are currently the favorites. It’s worth noting that Schneider was one of the favorites to be the first manager fired during the preseason.
A.J. Hinch was among the favorites as well (9/1 odds to be fired first), and now he’s second on the AL MOY odds list.
7. Will the Brewers vs. Braves Game Be Postponed August 4? What Happens to My Bet? (4124 Impressions)
Weather threatened a number of games last week, including the Brewers vs. Braves game August 4. This one did not get postponed but gamblers assumed the worst for a bit.
8. Terry McLaurin Payout Odds Next Team Raiders Now 3-1 (3705 Impressions)

Here are the changes from SportsBetting.ag:
Jets: Opened 3/1 (favorites), now 5/1
Raiders: Opened 6/1, now favored at 3/1
Patriots: No change
Chargers: Opened 5/1, now 6/1
9. J.D. Vance Odds (3696 Impressions)
Regarding that 2028 Presidential Election, J.D. Vance’s odds continue to improve, and he’s now the odds-on favorite to be the Republican nominee.
10. Boomer's Sportsbook Goes Live (3427 impressions)
Nevada’s Gaming Commission unanimously approved Boomer’s application to launch retail locations in Elko, Las Vegas and Henderson as well as a mobile sports betting app, in time for the new NFL season which gets underway on September 4.
The independent bookmaker is run by longtime industry veteran Joe Asher and would become the state's only independent bookmaker once live.
Asher founded Brandywine Bookmaking in 2008 before selling it to British bookmaker William Hill in 2012 for a reported $14.25 million.
