Top Stories: Poker Pro Matt Glantz Calls it "the Biggest Heist of All Time'
Poker pro Matt Glantz is among the most active on X with more than 35K followers.
On Friday, he claimed to have witnessed what he referred to as "the biggest heist of all time".
It wasn't at a poker tournament or during an online game.
"What you witnessed today will go down as the largest heist of all time. Somebody knew. And that somebody knew exactly how to orchestrate it. Thousands of crypto traders completely wiped out. Billions lost. Many losers. One winner."
The reference appears to be towards someone shorting Bitcoin on Friday a mere 30 minutes prior to US President Donald Trump announcing new aggressive tariffs on China. That account was opened on Friday and the profit amassed, a cool $88 million.
Coincidence?
Not everybody is on board with the notion that this was a "heist".
Poker pro Melanie Weisner offered up this assessment:
"Disagree. Even though someone knew and executed, the downside was not created by this news. It simply lit the fuse over uniquely fragile positioning. Market had been conditioned to shake off tariff news, and this would have otherwise been a normal dip (prob rebought quickly bc of taco), not a 4-sigma event."
And this from Brian Boggs:
"You only lose if you sell. Put your purse down Glantz. Hit the buy button."
