More Gambling Devices, Slot Machines Seized, 11 Arrests in Florida

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier hosted a news conference in Naples to announce the results of "Operation Sunset Stakes", an effort aiming to crack down on illegal gambling in Florida.
The attorney general said 479 illegal slot machines were seized by the Florida Gaming Control Commission over the course of a week in Lee and Collier counties. According to officials, authorities also arrested 11 people and seized over $294K from the slot machines on Florida's Gulf Coast.

NBC News projected Tuesday that Hilton, a former Fox News host, will advance from a crowded all-party primary field to advance to the general election. With 88% of the expected vote tallied one week after polls closed, Xavier Becerra was taking about 28% support compared to 25% for Hilton. Billionaire Democrat Tom Steyer was in third with roughly 23%, while Republican Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco was the only other candidate in double digits, with 10%.

Primm Resort Border Town in California Saved

Originally, Primm Valley Resort, Buffalo Bill's, and Whiskey Pete's were all scheduled to close by July 4, 2026, and many reports described the town as effectively becoming a ghost town. A last-minute rescue deal was announced involving the Primm property owners and Nevada-based Terrible's. According to recent reports, the deal is intended to keep the Primm resort complex operating and pursue redevelopment rather than allowing a complete shutdown. Affinity Interactive ("Affinity") on Tuesday acknowledged the announced agreement regarding the future operation of Primm Valley Casino Resorts and their transition to the Herbst family. "We have worked constructively with the Primm family and the Nevada Gaming Control Board to date and are very encouraged by the progress being made toward the transition of Primm Valley Casino Resorts to the Herbst family," said Scott Butera, Chief Executive Officer of Affinity Interactive. "We stand ready to provide whatever assistance is necessary to support a rapid and smooth transition for the benefit of Primm residents, employees, local businesses and the State of Nevada."
