U.S. Senators Banned From Using Prediction Markets

Thursday April 30, 2026 (3:37 pm EDT)

U.S. senators are officially banned from trading on prediction markets on platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket after the body unanimously passed a rule Thursday barring their participation in the controversial online gambling practice.  Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, introduced the resolution last week amid concerns about insider trading on the platform.  Regardless, the new rule has little teeth beyond internal ethics enforcement like reprimands or censures, as there is nothing the senate can do to punish those who break the rule.
