Long Time Advocate for Legalized Online Gambling Barney Frank Going Into Hospice Care

Sad news to report as we are learning that retired former Congressman Barney Frank of Massachusetts is set to enter hospice care. Frank was a long time advocate for legalizing online gambling at the federal level. Along with former Republican Congressman Ron Paul, the two co-sponsored legislation that would have made internet gambling legal at the federal level. Neither party provided enough votes to get the measures passed in the end, however. The 86-year-old Frank was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and says his heart is “reaching that stage” where it may give out

Spirit Airlines Shutdown Devastating to Two U.S. Gambling Hubs

Spirit Airlines, which began more than 34 years ago as Charter One, officially shut down early Saturday morning leaving countless numbers of passengers stranded. The most impacted airport was Fort Lauderdale. Its Terminal 4 hub was mostly a abandoned Saturday as only a handful of other airlines operated along side Spirit. For the New Jersey gambling city of Atlantic City, Spirit represented 94% of all flights in that airport. Its flight to and from Detroit, we are told, was actually quite profitable with a loyal passenger base. Las Vegas was the third most impacted in terms of passengers flown after only Fort Lauderdale and Orlando. Departing seats scheduled from May 2025 through April 2026 were listed at 2,203,018 out of Las Vegas. Detroit, an original Spirit Airlines hub and home to some top casinos itself, was listed as the 4th most impacted in terms of passengers served.

Golden Tempo Wins 2026 Kentucky Derby - Cherie DeVaux Becomes the 1st Woman to Train its Winner

Cherie DeVaux became the first woman to train a Kentucky Derby winner as she got ready to be just the 18th to enter a horse in the crown jewel of horse racing’s Triple Crown with Golden Tempo. Golden Tempo was a 36-1 long shot coming into this race. “I don’t even have any words right now,” DeVaux said. “I just can’t.” DeVaux is just the second female trainer to win any Triple Crown race after Jena Antonucci won with Arcangelo in the 2023 Belmont Stakes. She won the Derby in her first opportunity, eight years since starting her own stable. “Being a woman or my gender has never really crossed my mind in this journey of mine,” DeVaux said. “I’m glad I can be a representative of all women everywhere that we can do anything we set our minds do.”. It is not yet confirmed if 2026 Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo will enter the Preakness Stakes. Owner Daisy Phipps Pulito is non-committal, stating, "I don't know yet,".

Reno Casino Robbery Suspect Captured

58-year-old Reno resident Robert Kindell was arrested on April 25, 2026 in connection with a wave of armed robberies and attempted robberies at Reno casinos as well as Walmarts, according to KTVN Channel 2 News and AOL. He was apprehended following an investigation into incidents spanning March and April involving over $10,000 in losses. The Reno Police Department’s Regional Crime Suppression Unit conducted the investigation. He is accused of most recently robbing the Tamarack Casino (April 19) in broad daylight, robbing the Atlantis (April 1), and two Walmart locations (March 4, April 4).
