Tensions in the Middle East have heated up once again with betting markets on everything from normal traffic once again in the Strait of Hormuz to a permanent peace deal between the U.S. and Iran by month's end seeing chances diminishing. Iran has closed the western section of its airspace until further notice following a series of ballistic missile strikes on Israeli airbases, which were launched in retaliation for recent Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon. Iranian authorities have suspended operations at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini airport “until further notice”, the country’s IRNA outlet reports. US announces new Iran agreement/ceasefire extension by the end of this month was now seeing a 46% chance of happening at Polymarket. Oil and gas price betting markets are also in flux.

It has collected more than $287 million in taxes since the March 2024 launch of online sports betting, far exceeding initial projections.
