Influencer Jamie Mullarkey Fined for Promoting Gambling Site

Jamie Mullarkey, a mixed martial arts fighter, is accused of breaching Australia's online gambling laws. The rules prohibit the promotion of illegal gambling services, including posts or live streams featuring illegal services, sharing links to those services or running promotional giveaways connected to illegal gambling services. The ACMA investigation found that Mullarkey promoted an illegal offshore gambling service on his Instagram account, via sponsored posts, in 2025. Individuals who promote or publicise illegal online gambling services can face civil penalties of up to $59,400.

Major Australian Poker Company Fined

A major Australian poker company and its director have been fined tens of millions of dollars collectively over the running of illegal online poker services. The Australian Communications and Media Authority took Brisbane Poker and Rhys Jones to court for running the online poker rooms under various names. Last year, a federal court found that Mr Jones and his company Brisbane Poker provided prohibited interactive gambling services in contravention of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. Brisbane Poker hosted the games through a third-party app, which directed users to online sites to buy and sell chips via bank transfers and bitcoin, which were then credited as playable chips in the app. Allegations were not made by the ACMA against the host app itself. New Jersey could be preparing to ask the U.S. Supreme Court to take up its prediction markets case against Kalshi, according to local reporting, setting the stage for the high court to decide who truly regulates event contract platforms. The Press of Atlantic City first reported that the state has asked for a deadline extension to ask for the court to take up the case. The move comes after the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in April that New Jersey gaming regulators cannot stop Kalshi from offering sports event contracts in the state. With a Nevada case already moving through the 9th Circuit on a very different track, New Jersey’s hinted Supreme Court petition could be the moment prediction markets’ jurisdiction fight finally reaches the top. Dutch Court Rejects Automatic Refund Route for Unlicensed Gambling Losses

The Dutch Supreme Court held that gambling contracts with unlicensed online operators are not automatically void simply because the operator lacked a Dutch license. As a result, players are not automatically entitled to a full refund of their gambling losses, rejecting an argument that had fueled hundreds of reimbursement lawsuits in recent years. The Court indicated that the Dutch legislature chose to enforce its gambling laws primarily through regulatory and criminal enforcement, rather than by automatically invalidating every gambling contract. Gamblers may still pursue claims under other legal theories—such as negligence, breach of duty of care, mistake, or damages—but those cases must be evaluated individually.

USA vs. Belgium

USA is priced at -106 favorite with Belgium -116. USA beat feisty Paraguay, a team that sent favorites Germany packing. USA won the group by next beating Australia. Folarin Balogun had the most goals for the U.S. with three and has been granted permission to play in this one after it appeared he would be sidelined against Belgium. Christian Pulisic and Malik Tillman each have scored a goal in this tournament. USA's best performance in modern times came in 2002 where they made the Quarterfinals. Belgium advanced from Group G and then produced one of the tournament’s wildest comebacks, beating Senegal 3-2 in the Round of 32 after trailing 2-0 late. Romelu Lukaku scored in the 86th minute and Youri Tielemans scored twice, including the 125th-minute penalty winner.
