The Parkland High School science teacher, Maryam Roland, admitted to Parkland High School officials that she had ingested edible marijuana while visiting Colorado, where marijuana has been legalized.  The Texas Education Agency (TEA) wanted to suspend Roland’s license for testing positive for marijuana.

William G. Newchurch, the administrative law judge at the administrative hearings office, compared what the 39-year-old teacher did to what other Texas residents do when visiting places like Las Vegas…… gambling.

“Possession of a usable quantity of marijuana is a criminal offense in Texas, but so is gambling,” the judge wrote. The judge’s decision was published by The Austin American-Statesman on Friday.
