FBI announced $5000 reward for capture of Hollis C. Vanleer Jr wanted in connection to March armed robbery of Isle of Capri Casino in Booneville, Missouri
Another suspect has since been arrested
Both men are alleged to have stolen over a million dollars during the brazen heist
FBI Announces Award as Accomplice Already in Custody
The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Hollis C. Vanleer Jr., who is wanted for his alleged involvement in the March armed robbery of the Isle of Capri Casino in Boonville, Missouri on March 25.
Vanleer Jr.’s accomplice, an employee at the casino, has since been arrested. Authorities charged the accomplice, 21-year-old Benjamin Michael-Dass Charles, of Columbia, Missouri, with:
- First-Degree Robbery
- Armed Criminal Action
- First-Degree Assault
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
- Unlawful Use of a Weapon
Reports suggest the two had been planning the robbery months in advance.
How the Brazen Armed Robbery Went Down
Records show that during the robbery, the two masked suspects entered the casino, one armed with a handgun and the other with a rifle. They jumped the cage desk to the casino vault near the back of the building and stole more than $1.2 million.
During the ensuing struggle, the second suspect allegedly punched the patron multiple times in the head and face, allowing both suspects to escape.
Manhunt Continues as Suspect Considered Armed and Dangerous
20-year-old Vanleer Jr., of Normal, Illinois, was charged in Cooper County with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and first-degree assault on April 14, but has not yet been taken into custody.
Vanleer’s location is currently unknown, and he should be considered armed and dangerous, police say. Anyone who encounters him is asked to call 911 and to not approach him. Gambling911.com has provided a photo of the suspect above. He is described as a black man standing around 6’1″ tall, weighing around 280 pounds.
