FanDuel Sportsbook Site Down Monday Morning
An Amazon Web Services outage hit major websites Monday with the US largest online sportsbook, FanDuel, also down. It was not immediately clear if the FanDuel outage is connected to Amazon's issues, though this did not appear to be the case. FanDuel was trending on X throughout the day as the outage continued up until 8 pm ET with most services restored depending on which state you are logging in from.
From FanDuel Support:
"Service has been restored in MA. We appreciate your patience. We're aware customers located in CT, NJ, NY, PA and PR are still experiencing issues that may extend through MNF."
The outage came at a slow time of the day, however, heavy betting demand came into play during the afternoon hours leading up to Monday Night Football where the Bucs face the Lions and Texans take on the Seahawks. BetPhoenix currently had the Bucs as +6 road dogs and Seahawks as -3 home favorites. BetPhoenix is available in all 50 US state.
Those attempting to connect to FanDuel were greeted with the following message:
Sorry, we're temporarily unavailable
FanDuel Sportsbook is currently unavailable and our team is working overtime to get you back in the game ASAP. All wagers already placed are currently unaffected, and will settle per our Terms and Conditions. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for your patience!
The FanDuel outage follows the Kalshi website being down two hours on Saturday.
FanDuel issued the following statement just after 9:40 am ET:
"Good morning. We are aware that users are currently having trouble logging in and fully accessing our platform. Our team is actively investigating and working toward resolution. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience in the meantime."
FanDuel did later confirm the issue revolved around Amazon's cloud provider outage.
"We understand that customers may still be experiencing issues accessing our platform due to a worldwide outage with an external cloud provider. Our team is continuing with work with them to get customers back in the game. All bets already placed are unaffected and will settle per our house rules."
Gambling911.com will continue to monitor the situation closely.
