Fanatics Wazdan partnership

Wazdan, a Malta-based online casino game developer, has joined forces with Fanatics, a leading apparel company that is fast becoming one of the top internet gambling and sports betting ventures.

Wazdan currently works with Fanatics in Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

On Tuesday, Fanatics announced they will be offering 15 of Wazdan's casino games in West Virginia as well.

Titles include 9 Coins and Hot Slot series. Other games added to Fanatics in West Virginia include 12 Bells, 12 Coins Grand Gold Edition, Burning Sun, Magic Spins, Power of Gods: Valhalla and Sizzling Eggs.

“Going live with Fanatics Casino in West Virginia is another important step in building our presence across regulated North American markets,” said Wazdan Head of Account Management for Europe Magdalena Wojdyla. “Launching just ahead of one of the biggest sporting weekends of the year gives our portfolio strong visibility, and we are pleased that Fanatics players have access to a broad selection of our titles from day one.”

Last week, Gambling911.com reported on how Fanatics sportsbook and casino downloads were up a jaw-dropping 71 percent over just an 11-day period.  That placed Fanatics as the No. 7 most downloaded gambling-related app after Kalshi, DraftKings, Underdog Sports, PrizePicks, FanDuel and Polymarket.

“We are pleased to welcome Wazdan’s portfolio to the Fanatics Casino offering in West Virginia,” added Fanatics Betting and Gaming Senior Content Manager Kieron Shaw. “The variety of titles available gives our players greater choice, while the strong performance of selected games aligns well with our focus on delivering a high-quality casino experience.”

West Virginia is one of only seven US states that currently regulate online casino games.  The others include Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.

Despite being among the very first US states to begin regulating online sports betting after the US Supreme Court abolished decades of prohibition in 2018, it hasn't always been a smooth ride for West Virginia.

The state's key betting platform company, BetLucky, abruptly closed in 2019.  Mobile wagering, including casino gambling, halted briefly as a result.   West Virginia's mountainous terrain has been cited at times as a cause for geo-targeting glitches. Deep valleys are known to limit satellite visibility and GPS signals bounce off rock faces, leading to less precise geo-targeting.

In recent years, West Virginia has enhanced its iGaming and sports betting licensing to include the following:

  • BetMGM Casino (West Virginia)
  • DraftKings Casino (West Virginia)
  • FanDuel Casino (West Virginia)
  • Caesars Palace Online Casino (WV)
  • Golden Nugget Casino (WV)
  • Fanatics Casino (WV)
  • Horseshoe Online Casino (WV)
  • Hollywood Online Casino (WV)
