It should not come as any surprise that those in Washington State would have been placing bets on the Seattle Seahawks to win Super Bowl 60 entering the 2025-2026 season. After all, the Seahawks were showing glimmers of hope already the prior season, finishing 2024 with a 10-7 record.
Because the Seahawks tied with the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West, the Rams won the division based on the strength of victory tiebreaker and thus deprived Seattle from entering the post season last year.
One year later, Seattle won the Super Bowl.
Typically futures bets will be in the hundred dollars range.
One lucky - and overly confident - gambler dropped $2,100 on the Seahawks to win the Super Bowl ahead of the 2025 season.
The payout?
A jaw dropping $140,700!
While Washington State regulates sports betting, one must place their bets at one of the many licensed tribal casinos. Online sports betting is only regulated at the actual venue, not in one's home or office. Unless an individual is betting with a local bookie, offshore sportsbook, prediction market or daily fantasy sports site, one must physically place their bet at a land-based casino in Washington.
In the case of this lucky gambler, the bet was placed at The Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington, just a half hour from Seattle.
“Someone walked in, trusted their gut, dropped a $2,100 future on the Seahawks to win it all ... and now they’re cashing $140,700,” casino officials said in the post, noting that it was a preseason bet. “Unreal.” “This is what believing looks like.”
The casino is owned by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians with the sportsbook managed by BetMGM.
Ironically, the sportsbook's tagline reads "Futures are made here". And they sure are.
The sportsbook boasts a lounge that features 70 DreamSeat armchairs, one of the country's largest LED walls, and dozens of 86" TVs.
The Reviews Are Not Great
This casino could use some good press.
Based on reviews at TripAdvisor, one would be hard-pressed to find anything greater than two stars.
Customer complaints range from a very smoky casino floor to a false sense of security in the parking garage.
Horrible experience at Emerald Queen
"This place does not even deserve 1 star! Our truck was stolen from their parking garage and they treated us like it was no big deal..."oh well" mentality. There is security EVERYWHERE and a camera was right over where we parked.... do they not watch their cameras?? The silver Chevy truck that pulled up with 3 guys that jumped out and pried our doors open had been seen around there before.... according to security. So sick about this."
Tribal Donation Section
"Emerald Queen Casino Fife is safer to park at, especially in the parking garages, but anything left unsecured will get stolen—including the bills you feed into their slot machines. Don’t be fooled: they have lowered the payback quite a bit in the last year. Three years ago, the machines paid out in the low 90% range, and you could walk out with cash about 1/4 of the time. I haven’t walked out ahead in the last ten visits. You are playing at a video arcade that costs you at least $30 an hour, no matter what. And typically, you will pay much more than that for the video game entertainment."
Hotel Parking Garage - A False Sense of Security
"False sense of security!!! Even with all the cameras and security people walking around the vehicle garage, don't be fooled. My husband and I typically stay at a different hotel when we visit family in the Tacoma area. The new casino hotel happened to have vacancy this trip, so we decided to stay there believing our vehicle would be safe in the parking garage. Were we ever wrong. On December 1, 2023, our vehicle was broken into causing thousands of dollars in damages in addition to having personal items stolen. We parked in level 0 pretty much right outside the hotel/casino entrance. We were not offered any sort of credit even though we spent a lot of money for several nights at the hotel. We even wrote a message to the Hotel Management explaining the incident and our disappointment but heard nothing back. Please take extra precautions while staying at this hotel and parking your vehicle in the vehicle garage. You might consider sleeping in your vehicle, you may actually catch the thieves! It's very doubtful the thieves will be caught otherwise. It is doubtful we will ever return to stay at this hotel due to this incident."
Smoky and Dark
"This casino is extremely smoky. You have to walk through the smoking section to get to non smoking. Very unhealthy for people visiting and working there. Very dark. This does not compare to Ilani..bright..clean and no smoking after COVID. Also the room has no water bottles for coffee. Excuse was they were too busy to refill rooms. Front desk gave us one bottle as they said they were limited."
It's not all bad.
Great Casino
"I really enjoyed gambling at this casino. They have a wide array of slots and table games, at very affordable prices. I was in Las Vegas less than a week ago, and I enjoyed my time at this casino as much as I enjoyed gambling in Las Vegas. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the casino has a great atmosphere. They have a good players club program, I definitely recommend signing up. The casino even has sports betting on premises, which you cannot do on betting apps in Washington. This is a great casino."
Good for Entertainment
"Have been there for boxing and mma and find the seating arrangements very good. You get the feeling of intimacy which is weird for sports where guys are basically trying to kill each other. The food is excellent. The menu based food is great and the buffet is awesome. Three types of crab including King and Dungeoness. Here is a tip: Don't wait in line for the buffet, just go to the north stairwell and have them seat you right away."
Great Buffet
"Emerald Queen has several restaurants in their casino. I've only ate at their Buffet. On Friday and Saturday night it's seafood buffet. And they have lot's of crab, usually at least two kinds of crab. Like Dungeoness and Snow or King crab. They always have FRY BREAD! Lot their Indian fry bread. Of course they have the usual buffet things, like Prime Rib, and chicken and shrimp and you name, it's usually on the buffet. Wonderful selection and great food."
