The victim of a shock acid attack testified from the grave this week as jurors in Plymouth, England listened to an interview Danny Cahalane gave from his hospital bed prior to succumbing to his injuries.

Ten individuals are currently standing trial tied to the criminal case.  Seven men and three women are being charged with murder, manslaughter, attempted kidnapping, and being part of a gang linked to drug trafficking.

The victim suffered his injuries on February 21, 2025 after being doused with what was later determined to be sulfuric acid.

Cahalane reportedly shared with investigators that his position had been “sort of middle management in drugs supply chain” overseen by a Dubai Crime boss known as “Frost” (real name Ryan Kennedy).

Kennedy allegedly repeatedly demanded the money from Cahalane, issuing a series of threats and eventually telling the Plymouth father of two: "You're gonna die".

Cahalane's ex-wife Paris Wilson allegedly was being offered money to tell the drug kingpin where Cahalane was located.

Israel Augustus, 26, from London, with Kelvin Asante, 23, from London are accused of carrying out the actual acid attack on Cahalane.

He survived for 10 weeks before finally dying from cardiac arrest brought on by his injuries.

Cahalane told police he gambled with the profits, including money meant for his drugs boss.

From The Mirror:

Detective Sgt Sutcliffe explained that police attended the hospital at Danny's request. He said Danny was in the Intensive Care Unit at the time and that his mum Vivien and step father Tony Bleech were also at the hospital visiting him.

Danny was on strong painkillers due t his injuries, including ketamine, and the recording needed to be paused frequently as nurses and doctors attended to him. Danny said he was in debt to Frost and he told officers he had a good relationship with Frost then admitted he gambled some of it away and that he did not have enough to pay him back.

Danny died at the hospital on May 3 and his mum, who had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, died the following day.

Cahalane also told police he remembered "screaming" at his front door and three men coming to his aid and him "screaming 'call the police'" adding " I knew it was acid." Danny added he believed his "ex had set me up."

He claimed his ex-wife "knew I would be home that night" and that the pair split up at Christmas.

The 10 suspects in the case are Wilson, 35, of The Quay, Plymouth; Jude Hill, 43, of Wantage Gardens, Plymouth; Abdulrasheed Adedoja, 23, of Neasden, London; Ramarnee Bakas-Sithole, 23, of Islington, London; Augustus, aged 26, of Tottenham, London; Isanah Sungum, 22, of Edmonton, London; and Brian Kalemba, 23, of Barking, London and Asante, 23, of London.

The trial continues.
