One of the world's best known sports handicappers passed away Tuesday morning.  Friends of Dave Cokin confirmed his passing to Gambling911.com. Details surrounding his death were not immediately known.  More recently, Cokin offered his picks via WagerTalk.com.

Cokin was widely considered a "Vegas legend" and passed away at the age of 71.

Gambling911.com's own Thomas Somach reflected on his passing.

"He worked as LVSN (when I was there)," Somach tells us.  Las Vegas Sporting News is a now defunct rag once based out of Eastern PA that would be displayed prominently on New York City news stands.

Somach relayed that Cokin had been sued for a lot of money prior to coming on board with that paper "because they paid for handicapping services and he lost".

Go figure.

"He did not work for us long," Somach noted.

More recently Gambling911.com's famed reporter got back in touch with Cokin via Facebook.

"Back in the day, he was famous for dating a stripper so I asked him if he was still dating a stripper and he got all upset and said that was 30 years ago and then he unfriended me and that was that."

May he rest in peace.
