In October 2025, Terry Rozier was arrested by the FBI as part of a wide-ranging federal probe into illegal sports betting and gambling that also led to the arrests of Portland Trailblazer's head coach Chauncey Billups, other coaches, former NBA players, and dozens more individuals.
Rozier was arrested on October 23, 2025, and federally indicted/charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering in a major sports gambling investigation.
More evidence appears to be arising in this matter pertaining specifically to Rozier.
The NBA uses the law firm of Watchtell, Lipton, Rosen and Katz to investigate crisis matters. The firm's investigative team found a text in Terry Rozier phone that he told someone he was coming out of the suspect game back in 2023 while playing with the Charlotte Hornets.
Rozier is alleged to have removed himself on purpose from a game with the Charlotte Hornets so gamblers he was tied to could win prop bets. Rozier played just nine minutes that night, scoring five points with two assists. Before that game, he was averaging 35 minutes and 21 points per contest.
He currently plays with the Miami Heat. That organization has suspended Rozier for the season as the probe continues.
From The Atlantic:
“Wachtell did not find enough for the NBA to suspend Rozier, a bad look for the NBA in October when federal prosecutors charged Rozier with doing the very thing for which he was investigated by Ander’s team. Wachtell lawyers had access to Rozier and his phone and found that he texted someone that he would come out of a game, according to multiple people briefed on the investigations, but they could not compel others outside the NBA to participate in the investigation. Federal prosecutors had no such restriction.”
Alas, while all of this is going on, Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo announced his investment in the predictions market, Kalshi. He comes on as a shareholder.
