Hot Betting Markets: US x Venezuela Military Engagement By December 31 According to Gambling Public

22% of those betting on the Polymarket platform (which does not currently take bets from those in the USA) believe there will be a military engagement between the US and Venezuela before October 31, 2025. 

Some $2 million has been wagered on this betting market. 

56%, a majority, believe military engagement will occur before year's end. 

The United States struck another small boat accused of carrying drugs in the waters off Venezuela, killing six people, President Donald Trump said Tuesday.

Those who died in the strike were aboard the vessel, and no U.S. forces were harmed, the president said in a social media post. It’s the fifth deadly strike in the Caribbean as Trump’s administration has asserted it’s treating alleged drug traffickers as unlawful combatants who must be met with military force.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered the strike Tuesday morning, said Trump, who released a video of it as he has in the past. Hegseth later shared the video in a post on X.

The black-and-white video showed a small boat that appeared stationary on the water. Seconds into the video, it is struck by a projectile from overhead and explodes. The boat is then seen floating aflame for several seconds.

Irish Presidential Election Odds 

Latest Poll Shows a Near-Unassailable Lead for Catherine Connolly - 

Connolly holds a significant poll lead over presidential rival Heather Humphreys, the latest figures show.

Ms Connolly, a left-wing independent TD backed by opposition parties including Sinn Fein, is on 38%, ahead of Fine Gael’s Ms Humphreys on 20%.

The Irish Times/Ipsos B&A poll says support for Fianna Fail candidate Jim Gavin, who pulled out of the contest, is at 5%.

Some 12% of voters said they would not vote, 6% said they would spoil their ballot and the number of undecideds was at 18%.
